Whada Weekend!

The weekend after Labor Day was a light weekend for me as far as school was concerned so we filled it with fun. Saturday morning we went to the farmer's market. We had a great time as always, but it was a different crowd because the Husker game started so early. It was fun to get to experience a little of the "game-day atmosphere".

That afternoon we went to the zoo. Jess had been to ride the train, but never been to see the whole zoo. It was a dreary day so it was not very busy. Jack really enjoyed this trip and seemed more interested in the animals than the last time we went.

This Meerkat knew it was a lazy Saturday.

Jess and Jack were more lively than Mr. Meerkat.

Jack makes a wonderful butterfly even when he's not at school.

Me too!

It was fun to spend the day with my boys.
Jack practiced his reverse metamorphosis into a caterpillar.

Jack and I really enjoyed the seal show. Jess let the swarm of little kids in front of him so he really couldn't see the show.
That night we went to Omaha and met Bill's family. We had a wonderful dinner at the Olive Garden to celebrate Laura's birthday. She turned 13 that Sunday!!! She had an awesome pool party and a special dinner with her dad on her actual birthday, but we were thrilled to be able to help celebrate her birthday.
When we decided to go to Omaha for supper, Jess checked to see if we could get a great deal on a hotel...and we did! We stayed at our favorite, the Regency Marriott. We went swimming after supper and I finally was able to swim under the indoor/outdoor partition. As many times as I have stayed in this hotel, I have never been there when the "swim-through" wasn't blocked off, so I took the opportunity to swim through.
Jack was a hit at the pool. Little girls flock to him, so he always had someone trying to entertain him. I can't say I blame them. We had a restful night in the Marriott beds!!
Jack decided to kick his feet up in the morning and have his breakfast in his stroller. We didn't bring the high-chair but his stroller tray works just fine in a pinch.
We did some shopping that morning before heading back to Lincoln. It was a wonderful, fun filled weekend that we hope to duplicate as much as we can.
