Splash Pad

Now that my class is over I have Tuesdays free from work so Jack and I decided to make a day trip to Hastings. Unfortunately, I wasn't good about taking pictures that day, but mom took a few.

We stopped and picked up Steph and Cori and headed to Aunt Judy's house. It was a lot of fun to see her and Gary. Jack remembered being there the last time. He walked in their house and asked where the blocks he played with the last time had gone (as if Aunt Judy should just keep them out on the off chance he stops by). He also remembered that he had cake when he walked into her kitchen. He was disappointed that there was no cake, but watermelon soon took his mind off that.
Uncle Gary even got out the 4-wheeler when he found out how much Jack likes to ride them. He has so much space to ride around, so it was a lot of fun for Jack and Cori.
We headed into town for lunch and then went to the splash pad. We met Pershings there. Steph P. made such a nice blog about the splash pad that I'm just including the link to it instead of making my own.

Jack was not real hot on the splash pad, I think he didn't quite know what was going on. He was really excited to go before hand.
Cori on the other hand LOVES the splash pad. I asked her where her dad was because he was out of state, and she said "he's at the splash pad!"

After the splash pad, we were able to say a quick hello to mom's good friend Diane Martin. She was in town for a conference. It was nice to see her and for her to get to see Jack.

Finally, we headed to one of my best friends from college's house. Meghan has a little girl Tessa who is just a few months older than Jack, so they were able to play together. Tessa got a 4-wheeler (power wheels) for her birthday, so Jack was pretty much in heaven. It was so nice to see their whole family and to see their beautiful home.

to the zoo

We've been to the zoo a few times this summer. It seems that we are really busy the weeks with the best weather, but Jack and I caught one free afternoon when it was chilly enough that he had to wear a sweatshirt.



We've really been enjoying having a membership to the Lincoln zoo because we don't feel obligated to "get our money's worth" each time we go.

Another perk of having the membership in Lincoln is that we get a discount at the Omaha zoo. In June, we made the trip to Omaha with Jimi, Nicki, and James.

There was one rather showy peacock that day.

and it attracted a mate.

We packed a picnic lunch, Jack made sure to get every last bit of pudding.

My favorite part of the zoo is always the jungle. I think Jack enjoyed being able to move around and have something to see everywhere. He thought these lazy animals below were Blackie...they spend their days the same, so I can see the resemblance

It took us the whole morning to do the Big things at the zoo and to eat lunch, so we will be returning soon.

Wowa and Medicine (i.e. Laura & Madison)

We had an awesome week in June with Laura and Madison staying at our house. They went to Wesleyan's volleyball camp each day while I was at work and school. I think they had a lot of fun at camp, but more fun with me!!!

It was really hot that week, so we didn't do a lot outside. But we had fun finding things to do inside. One afternoon I picked the girls and Jack up and we went to the mall. I learned how very out of touch I am with what the "cool kids" wear. Jack is keeps up with what's cool though!


Jack is so helpful when we are out now. He loves to push his stroller, but does not want any help. If you touch it while he is pushing, he says "no, no, no, no-no, no-no"
Jack loved having the girls at the house to entertain him, and it was a nice break not to have him directly underfoot while I was getting things done around the house.



The last night the girls were at the house, we went all out for dessert. We made chocolate covered strawberries. YUM!!We had more chocolate than strawberries so we dipped a few other things. Jess and Jack even dipped a chocolate covered cookie in chocolate.
The day after they left, Jack and I got things ready so we could go swimming as soon as Jess got home from work. I put on my suit and then Jack ran out of my room yelling "suit, suit, suit"...

it was just a a bra.
