Swimming Lessons With Eliza

We found out that one YMCA in town offered float for life swimming lessons. I hurried to enroll Jack. We went four days a week for two weeks. She warned me as I arrived that there would be lots of crying and that I'd have to hide from him during his lesson.
I was really amazing to see. (I have a video, but of course it is locked in my video camera) Jack learned to float on his back so he could breathe if he ever had an accident where he fell in the water. He learned to move along the sides of the pool and to get out when he could.

Each day Jack said he had fun when he was finished, but by the end of the first week he did not want to go to his lessons. One day he asked for more car ride, he asked to get in other cars, he asked to take his puppy and a truck swimming, etc. He would spend the rest of the day talking about Swimming with Eliza. The last day he had to wear real clothes so he knew what it felt like if he had a real emergency. He did such a good job and we are so thankful that this service is available for us. Jack has been asking for more lessons now that we are done.

wow that sounds like a great class..do you know if there is an age limit on it...that would be hard watching him upset but i think it is well worth it :)

I am very thankful that Jack took this class. Wish it was more available so all children could take it. Grammy Shirley
