A picture is worth...

Well, as I promised, Jack and I had a wonderful spring break together. Unfortunately, I was having camera issues, so 1,000 words will be the equivalent of two weeks worth of pictures.

After our trip to Red Oak we were beat, so we spent Sunday afternoon just lounging around with Jess. Jack still went to school Monday and Tuesday, but only for a while. I was able to study without the distraction of his sweet smile. It was strange to be at home without him.

Tuesday evening Amanda came to play with Jack. Her boyfriend Andrew joined us after work and we had a fun dinner with them. It is hard to fit weeknight fun in while we are in school, so it was nice to have the free time.

On Wednesday, Uncle Darrell came and picked Jack and I up to take us to Hastings. We had a great ride, and Jack was a perfect traveler. It was so fun to spend time at Darrell and Honey Lou’s house before Mom came to pick us up. We made a quick stop at Pershing’s to say hello, then we went on to Barwick’s.

At Steph’s house we admired the beautiful tile job. It was such a nice touch and I am sure it was well worth the years of waiting for it to be completed. Jack, Mom, and I completed our journey to Holdrege and got settled for a long weekend.

On Thursday, Jack and I went to the law office so Grandpa could show him off there. We then went to the hospital so Grandma could show him off there. They were both so excited to show him off. That afternoon we went to Kearney!!! That may have been the highlight of my trip! We had a wonderful lunch at The Alley Rose and then spent an hour or so at Kearney Floral.

It was so nice to be back at K-Flo, Tim even put me to work, and I haven’t lost my touch. Our big day in Kearney was followed by a trip to Dad’s office and a beautiful Maundy Thursday service. Friday was another whirlwind with a visit to Jami’s house to meet Caden. It was so fun to see her and her boys.

For the next stop on my tour of restaurants, we had lunch with Kathy and Vicki at La Hacienda. Then Jack spent some time with Grandma and Grandpa while I cleaned my bedroom at home. Mom had been asking me to do this and I didn’t think I had much there, but a tote full of my belongings made a liar out of me.

We went to the Farmhouse Inn near Minden for a wonderful supper to celebrate Mom and Dad’s birthdays. Bonar's and Barwick's joined us, and Jess arrived later on his trip home for the weekend. We really missed him while we were in Holdrege, so it was so nice to have him with us. Cori was so fun to play with at the restaurant too.

Saturday was a big day too. We wouldn’t just have an easy relaxing day, that would be too much. Jack went swimming for the first time, but he was unsure of what he thought about it. He didn’t hate it, but it was not his favorite activity. Cori thought the zero entry pool was so nice, and she only dunked her self a dozen or so times, so I think it was a very successful swim for her.

After a few more visits and lunch, we headed back to Kearney. Steph wanted to get Cori’s pictures in her Easter dress, so we added a few with Jack. Unfortunately a quick trip to get some pictures taken turned into a couple of hectic hours at Walmart.

We came home and had a wonderful Prime Rib sinner. Again, food was one of the highlights of the day, but I’m ok with that. It was a late supper and that pretty much capped out Saturday.

Sunday we went to church with Mom and Dad. Before we hit the road, we ate a delicious ham dinner with the Osborn’s. I found that melted velveeta makes a great gravy for mashed potatoes. Jack was once again perfect dinner entertainment.

We stopped in Kearney to see our dear friend Trevor. Blackie was pleased to see him and her old sister Xena. (We adopted Blackie from Trevor) It was fun to see his new house too.

Monday was a sick day for all of us, so none of us were on our feet until Tuesday. Then it was back to the grind, but it wasn’t as painful as it could have been (thank you to all my professors for not calling on me that day). The rest of the week was relatively uneventful until Friday.

On Friday, Mom and Dad came to Lincoln. They babysat Jack while Jess and I went to the WLC Charity Auction. In general the auction was not the best time, but it was fun to be with our friends. We took advantage of having a sitter and went to the Starlight lounge for martini’s; that was a much livelier time.

Saturday was a big day for me. Dad and I spent the whole day looking for a new car for me. We found the perfect car after hours of looking, but when it was all said and done, I left my Mercury Mystique at the dealership and drove away in a beautiful new Nissan Sentra.

I will miss my car as it was always reliable and my first real car (my brief affair with a mini-van gets filed under parking practice). I am thrilled to have a wonderful new car and so appreciative to Mom and Dad for helping me get it. We had a wonderful time these past two weeks, without a camera... So, I leave you with 999 words. I feel that if I had to add another, you would be too bored.
