Olympic Distance!

1 Mile
24.8 Miles
3.1 Miles

Jess had his Olympic Distance Triathlon in Omaha at the end of July. It was super hot, and EXTREMELY humid that weekend. Mom and Dad came and stayed with the boys so Jess and I didn't have to wrangle them while we were in Omaha. It was a nice night away from home, but I missed them (Sam, because it was my first night away) a lot. We got up in the dark and I took Jess to the race site. I left and went back to bed.
A few hours later I returned to the race site to see Jess finish. I ran out to meet Jess with a little less than one mile to go in the race... it was HOT and I'd just started.
I've heard several times since then that Jess "felt like I was going to die" but he still finished like a pro!
The race was well organized and the volunteers were great... the course, was apparently pretty grueling. Jess says he'll consider doing it again in two years. It has resulted in him doing many races, and working out two nights a week with his friend Nate, which sets a great example for the boys. I grew frustrated toward the end of the training, but I am so proud of Jess for even attempting to do the triathlon, much less finishing... and he didn't die!!
