Maternity left

I was reading my cousin Andy's wife's blog about their trip to Puerto Rico and noted how much her boys have changed since last summer and they are adolescents... I was alarmed because babies change much faster!! So I am earnestly blogging away so Sam isn't crawling before I put up a second update.

We have been having a great time getting to know Sam and getting to know Jack as a big brother. I think that Jack has finally hit his pace as a big brother and I'm relieved to see how great he is doing.

Jess stayed home the first week Sam was born, so Jack was able to have a couple stay at home... or go to the Children's Museum days. Jack and Jess had a great time there as usual.

Jess and I both took Jack back to school his first day. We also introduced Sam to the friends and Liz. They were captivated and I think Liz wanted to spend the whole day holding Sam.

We took Jack bowling that first week too. He had been once before, but we had never gone as a family.
I tell you, he's a pro!

Jack likes to lay with Sam and talk to him. He's especially helpful if Sam's crying, he will sing to him and try to comfort him. At night after Jack's in bed if Sam cries, Jack will yell "FEED THE BABY!" just in case we didn't know that Sam was crying.

Jack has learned to play by himself better too since Sam came. Above, he's wearing a skirt because they were going to have a wedding dance at school. Below, he's being Buzz Lightyear. Yesterday he came home from school and was Buzz, to the point that he insisted that I call him that for a while.

We had many visitors over the past few weeks and love having people come meet Sam (as long as they are healthy!!)! One such visit was had by Bill's family.
Jack and Anna really had a fun time together.

I've included a link to the whole snapfish album that includes these newest photos here.

I'm enjoying my last few days of maternity leave but am anxious about going back to work. It will be hard to be away from Sam because maternity leave is a treat that I didn't have with Jack. I've enjoyed my time at home so much, but it will be nice to get back to the real world and to engage my brain again... I think.
