We came to Holdrege to celebrate Jack's birthday. I think Jess had some other reason for coming but that escapes me now...perhaps I have become a lousy blogger. When we arrived Friday evening Mom came over to visit so Jack had both Grandmas reading to him.

Grandpa got tired of reading books; really I think he could not contain his excitement and decided that Jack had to have his big present from them that evening.

It is a pretty awesome present. Rod picked out this three wheeler Schwinn. Jack was instantly in love. He wanted to ride it home to Mom and Dad's so we compromised that we'd take it there and he could ride it back to Osborn's in the morning.

He did a lot of riding that day as we rigged it up so he could carry his popcorn from "the berry farm" back to Osborn's. He was just thrilled to be riding the trike anywhere.

Phyllis ordered Jack a Mickey Mouse cake as we had just returned from Disney World. He was really tickled to get to have cake and ice cream. Mom, Dad, Jim, and Melba came over and helped us celebrate with Jack.

Then it was time for presents.

Jack really enjoyed opening his presents at Grandma and Grandpa's.

We had presents saved for Jack's actual birthday which was on a Monday. He took luau cupcakes and spider cupcakes to school to share with his friends. When Jess got home from work we let Jack open his presents.

Jack chose Noodles & Co. for his birthday dinner. He also wanted to sit outside. Fortunately the weather was much nicer this year for his birthday as it was snowing on his birthday the year before. Jack also started gymnastics that evening so it was a special treat for his birthday to get to go play somewhere cool.

When we were done with gymnastics we came home and had cupcakes that were leftover from school. It was fun to celebrate just the three of us.
Jack's actual birthday was followed by what we call "the practice birthday." We had a party for Jack, Anna, and Cori in November since their birthdays are all within a month or so from each other. The party was the weekend before Cori's birthday and she told mom that this was just her practice birthday because her real birthday was on Tuesday.

Here are the best shots from my camera when we tried to get one of the three kids together...perhaps Christie or Steph were more successful.

We had a really fun time with everyone but the Barwick boys (not because they are not fun, they were not here). After the party Bill, Chris, and the biggest Butz girls went to the Husker game while we all had a Husker party at home.

Jack was really excited to get a cowboy set. Uncle Bill knew just what a little boy needs.

Jack was quite lucky to have three special birthday celebrations and to have so many people who care for him. We can't believe that he's three already!

Each kid had their own Eileen's cookie in a different flavor.

As I mentioned above, I've become a bad blogger. I blame this on my status as a law school graduate. I spent SO much time on my computer with fast internet access that the only impediment to blogging was uploading the pictures to my computer. Now I don't seem to be better at uploading pictures to my computer (I'm quite positive I'm worse at uploading them, and remembering to take them for that matter) and now that I'm not looking for a distraction during class I don't seem to take the time to upload them at home. I want to be a good blogger again, hopefully I will be.
