Twas the season - Updated 3/12

Rod has been asking me..."have you updated your blog lately? I haven't missed one have I?" I realized that I maybe should get on the ball. I've been getting back into the swing of things so I've been a little lazy about the blog. Here are the some pictures from Christmas 2009. This post will be changing and eventually be a completed blog...I'd say it is almost there, but look for an update notice because I might add a bit more.

First things first. The week before Christmas Brandon graduated from college!!! We are really proud of him. It was really fun for us too because we had Cori, Blake, and Brandon at our house overnight following the graduation. Jack and Cori had lots of fun playing and we enjoyed playing wii with the boys.
We headed home for Christmas #1 the weekend of Christmas. It was snowy and yucky on our way home, but much better than the weather on Christmas Day.
Jack was eager to play his favorite game (tea party) at Grammy and Papa's house when we got there for Christmas.

We had a really fun Christmas Eve. I spent the day trying to keep Mom and Steph out of my way in the kitchen while they fixed more yummy things for us to enjoy. We had a really fun dinner with lots of soup, sandwiches, and yummy dips. After dinner, we opened some presents.

I failed to mention that we also spent the day trying to keep Cori out of her presents. At one point we could hear her in the living room talking to herself about "just pulling a bit here, opening a little bit there." She was relieved to finally get to open some up.

The kids must be listening to Cookie Monster when he says that he needs more than cookies, because they left Santa a cucumber this year too.

Christmas morning we let the big boys sleep in but allowed Jack and Cori to see what Santa brought them. Cori waited in style.
She was more into what Santa ate this year.
Jack was one of only a couple kids in his class who understood that he should want something from Santa. We thought Santa would bring the movies Cars, and The Tale of Despereaux. Jack thought Santa would bring Veggie Tales. By the end of the week, all of Jack's friends wanted Veggie Tales too. (I think they maybe all thought it was the correct answer.) Luckily, I ran into Santa at the consignment store and was able to tell him that Jack wanted Veggie Tales too.
After Jack opened his stocking at Grammy's (and I had a breakfast of fudge, YUM!) we headed to to Jess' folks.

We asked Phyllis if she could post at the hospital that we were looking to buy a used kitchen set...She came through BIG TIME! She was able to get us this huge kitchen set with lots of play food (for next to nothing).

Jack has been very busy serving us tea and hot coco.

This summer, Jack got to play on a kid-sized 4-wheeler so when Jess and I spotted this Lightning McQueen 4-wheeler, we let Rod and Phyllis know Jack would love it. I don't think Jack walked anywhere once he got the 4-wheeler.

He had lots of fun helping Grandma decorate cookies.

and played his usual games with Grandpa. He really got too many presents for Chritsmas. Until this year I had every present that Jack had opened on video (first child, I know)... this Christmas ended that. Every hour or so, I'd look over and Grandma would have two or three more presents for Jack. He was opening presents all day, lucky kid!

I hadn't mentioned the blizzard while we were home. It had already started before we left Lincoln, but raged on while we were gone. We knew Lincoln had received about 20 inches of snow while we were gone.

We came home to a 4 foot drift out back. Luckily, we came home to a clear driveway, one of our excellent neighbors scooped for us while we were gone. We spent a couple days at home fighting the snow and cold before we headed back to Holdrege for Christmas II. Bill's family came home over New Years again this year. We were able to head home this year for a big Butz family Christmas.

Jack got a cool dump truck which Papa drove him around in all weekend. These last photos are from New Years Day when we did "Christmas" at mom and dad's. We had Nita come over and take a family picture of everyone and then some of each family too. Nita hung around and was our private photographer while we opened presents as well, kinda like we were famous or rich.
