Oh, there's nothing halfway about the Iowa way to treat you

It's official, I'm now a licensed attorney in the state of Iowa. I was in Disney World during the big swearing in ceremony for the others who passed the bar exam when I did. Although I was told that I was missing a highlight of my legal career (thanks Iowa for shortchanging my legal career) I was allowed to be sworn in at a later date.

I think this was the preferable method of being sworn in as there were three of us rather than three hundred, we were sworn in in the Supreme Court room and not an auditorium, and it took about 30 minutes at the most!
Justice Appel swore us in and then gave us a short talk on legal professionalism and the Iowa courts. It was a nice way to start a morning.

Mom went with me to the swearing in because it was on a Tuesday morning in Des Moines. We stayed at the same hotel I stayed at during the bar exam so it was a nice close to my Iowa Bar Exam experience. However, we did get stuck in the elevator on our way to our room. Yes, I got to be the pregnant lady stuck in an elevator!!! It was on the main floor and it only lasted about five minutes, but that will be the highlight of my swearing in experience anyway.

I'll be a Nebraska attorney as soon as they approve my application.
