Spring Plantin'

Jack, Blackie, and I have been very busy planting flowers at our house lately. It has been mostly fun, but a little frustrating like when he decided to dump out the pots of dirt instead of helping fill them. It is always cute though!
He had a little trouble keeping those jeans up though. If you look below his coat, you can see a considerable amount of diaper exposed.

Blackie isn't much help, but she is sweet and entertaining.

We have been planting in the afternoons when we are waiting for Jess to get home from work.
We have also been drawing with chalk.

Jack was lots of help putting rocks in the bottom for drainage. He enjoyed moving rocks from one container to the next. I just tried to keep up.

Finally, we finished all the planting and only suffered a few casualties, so overall it was a very successful venture. Now we spend our afternoons watering the flowers. Jack has his own watering can and he is lots of help.

Besides being extremely helpful, he has a natural posture for watering.

He really likes the plants on my steps I rescued from Kearney Floral. I need to add a plant to the bottom where he is trying to step. The day we put the plants on it, we were picking up and he was playing around, I looked over and he had placed an empty plant container that was the perfect size right to fill the empty spot. I was very impressed with his eye for detail. He's very interested in getting the water and likes getting sprayed by the hose. And we planted a little Basil so we can have it fresh all summer! So as long as we can keep him and the dog from digging it up. Bon Apetit!

Mother's Day Weekend

This picture is actually the weekend before Mother's Day. We went to paint yourself silly to make Mother's Day presents for Grammy Shirley & Grandma Phyllis.

Jack got ice cream from Ivanna Cone and he even shared a little with Jess.

Jack helped Jess make pudding for dessert on Friday night of Mother's day weekend.

I spotted this tool set at a garage sale by our house and told Jess to pick it up on his way home from work. The first night we just took it out of the truck and put it in the garage. I didn't know if we were going to be able to get Jack to come in that evening. Through many tears and some cajolling, we did manage to get him inside to eat supper.

The tool set has since moved inside, but is no less loved.
On Saturday morning, we of course went to farmers market (HOORAY! it's open!!!) and met Grammy and Papa there. They rode in to town with Barwicks. After the Market, we dropped Jess off at home and the rest of us headed to the zoo.
Jack had a really fun time with Cori at the zoo.

Jack rode his first horse with Papa. He wasn't too sure about it the first time around but on the second trip around, he was only holding on with one hand.
Cori helped feed the animals, but Jack thought they'd just catch the food if he threw at them like he does to Blackie at home. The kids pretended to be bald eagles ("beagles" as Jack calls them). We had Caeli Roach with us at the zoo too. She was so fun to spend time with (even though I hear the highlight of her day was a trip to Sam's club.) I hope we can take her with us again soon.

Jack climbed all the way to the top of the spider web, which is no small task if you are only a couple feet tall.

After the zoo, Jess and I went once again to the life of luxury. Last week we had box seats at the baseball game through Nelnet and this week Jimi had box seats from Pepsi. So I have decided that I may never be able to sit on the berm again...actually it is pretty nice on the berm so I think we'll be back. It is nice to see the game from a different angle though.
If you look through the reflection above, you will see Jess and Jimi cheering at the game.

We enjoyed ourselves at the game, and Jack enjoyed playing at home with Cori following their naps.
We went out to dinner that evening to celebrate Scott's 40th Birthday and to celebrate Mother's day. It was fun and the kids behaved perfectly.

We took the kids outside while we waited for the check and they had fun just playing on the grass while they waited.
I didn't take a single picture on Mother's day but we did have a great day. We went to church, had a nice lunch and went swimming at the Y. And we all took a little afternoon nap. It was a really relaxing day, Perfect!

Where's Mommy?

I've been pretty busy studying for finals for the last few weeks, so I feel like Jack has maybe been wondering where I am, or at least why I always play in a different room from him...but now I am done and have rejoined the family!!! Yes, I have successfully (hopefully) completed my second year of law school, therefore you may never call me a tool (2L) again! I am really happy to be done with finals.
Two weeks before finals I received a call from the daycare late in the afternoon (the day I had night class) that Jack had fallen on the playground and might need stitches. Argh! So I sent Jess to pick him up and make the decision whether he did or not. As you can see above, there is a cut on his eyelid, but no stitches.

Papa suggested that I get a few pictures of his eye, and this one below is terrible of him, but the best one to show the cut on the eye. They were very worried about him at daycare and all checked to see how it was the next morning. It was fine, but it had apparently been pretty bloody when they called. Yes, it was torture to have to send Jess to go to my hurt little boy, but it was crunch time, and Jess is an AWESOME daddy so I knew Jack would be just fine.

Aside from that accident, the lead up to finals was fairly uneventful. They played a lot, and I tried to pop in and out for a few minutes at a time. As all of the pictures are of Jack in pajamas in his bed room, a lot of this time was spent right before bed.

I think they really did enjoy their time together, but I missed them so much. I am really glad to be done!
and Jack is really excited that I'm going to dress him again...
...Jess just has a different style in mind.
